Biography:
Jamie was born in Auckland , N.Z in June 1982. He started his racing career in Quarter Midgets then graduated to Three Quarter Midgets while also racing Karts during the speedway off-season. During any spare time, he enjoys trail riding his motox bike and snowboarding in winter. Also a keen rugby player, Jamie played for various North Harbour rep teams with a highlight of making the U16 New Zealand team trial.
In 2003 Jamie and his family decided his future lay in Sprintcars. They leased a car and, in only his second outing, he placed 3rd in the North Island champs at Baypark. During the next off-season, Jamie attended the Smiley Sitton Sprintcar Driving School in Dallas, Texas USA and, after completing that he raced with a team around America in the ASCS 360 Sprintcar Series for a month.
The next season saw Jamie set up his own team in N.Z and, in that first year he won the North Island champs, the Grand Prix and placed 3rd in the N.Z champs. Within 3 years Jamie had placed 3NZ, 2NZ and 1NZ, in that order, meaning he had won every major title including the Heritage shield and the Gold Cup.
In 2005 Jamie and his team flew to America and built a car. They then raced for a month contesting the Knoxville Nationals and various other tracks. They did the same in 2006. In 2007 they sent that car to Paramatta, Australia and raced two shows there also.
The 07/08 season did not go well for the team as two major crashes hampered progress and destroyed two cars. One was at Palmerston North and the other at Western Springs. The result of this meant the season had to be cut short to re-group and for Jamie to recover.
However, as all good teams do, Jamie and his team bounced back and returned to consistently good form in the 08/09 season, backing this up with a 4th place finish in the international series, featuring 5 outlaw drivers from USA, and a feature win on the final night at Western springs.
Jamie and the team are both looking forward to and excited about the upcoming 09/10 race season with the continued support of our valuable major sponsors Makita Power Tools and Wynns Products. With a goal of building on last year’s results and ultimately claiming back the N.Z title, we look forward to seeing you all trackside this coming season.
